The CREATE Choir

The Choir is one of the legacies of Claque's 2009 Community Play for Camden Road in Tunbridge Wells. The eighty strong community choir meets every Thursday night and has for the past six years held an annual Christmas Concert and sung at numerous local events and taken bespoke recitals to churches and schools in and around the town. As part of the Empty Galleries In the Shadow of War exhibition we costumed the entire choir, each member representing a 'real person' that lived in, or had connections with Tunbridge Wells during the period of The First World War. Nurses, Soldiers, Suffragettes, a vicar and local dignitaries including Siegfried Sassoon.  Some played their ancestors or people who lived in their own houses in 1914. Many of the choir did extensive research into their subjects and attended improvisation workshops to develop their characters. To date they have performed in both the Shadow of War and Westerham Summer 1914 Empty Gallery. They will shortly get an invitation to sing in the Virtual Shoes Gallery in the City of London.
THE CREATE WW1 CHOIR are continuing to develop their repertoire of  war and music hall songs and supporting the numerous commemorations planned between 2014-18.

Claquer Impro Players

Members of the Claquer Impro group meet on monday nights at Rusthall Club, Rusthall.  They are well versed in playing 'performance games' and long form improvisation where they create improvised narrative and create short plays based on audience suggestions. The have recently started working with masks to create the Empty Gallery  'Finding Alice' and regularly participate in role at Empty Gallery events. They have  perform their own shows on a bi monthly basis and are open to invitations at  other functions. They have recently started playing 'Life Game' where audience members are interviewed and their stories are played out by the players in rather expanded charicatured style; great for parties and reunions.  In 2016 Claquer Impro performed both here and in Germany with two impro groups Restrisiko Wiedbarden, Germany, and Teatr Improwizacji Jesiotr, Wroclaw, Poland.. In 2017 they hosted a Belgian Improvisation group and visited Poland for the third Impro International Fest.
