September 7th Empty Gallery Performers Rehearsal

St Barnabas School Hall, Quarry Road (bottom of Camden Rd) Tunbridge Wells                                                                          11am- 2pm  Rehearsal of Impro Live Problem Pictures.
The rehearsal is for the Impro group and the Role players who want to participate in the Live Problem Pictures at the Gallery on Heritage weekend. Problem Pictures were popular in Edwardian times. They were paintings by many established artists in leading art galleries and featured as illustrations in magazines and papers. The pictures were generally dramatic situations but were open to interpretation as to who the characters were and what was going on, it was left to the imagination of the viewer. Our live problem pictures will involve performers creating  a tableaux that visitors can interact with, make suggestions, ask questions of the characters, change the pictures so they move forward and backward in time. It's a fascinating game of interpreting picture and building stories. This rehearsal/workshop, will show performers different ways of engaging with the gallery visitors.

2pm-4pm Nose in a Book Night Rehearsal
On Saturday night 13th September the Empty Gallery will have a Nose in a Book Night performance of words and song. This rehearsal is for the readers. The theme is in the Shadow of War and Peace and we will have selected and decided a running order of verse. prose, letters and diaries.

September 11th CREATE Choir Rehearsal

Church of Christ, Commercial Road Tunbridge Wells. 7.30pm
As part of the Heritage Week and the Empty Gallery's exhibition In the Shadow of War and Peace, the Create Choir launch their First World War Choir with a concert of songs and words from the Victorian, Edwardian and First World War era, as well as contemporary music that hold resonances a period of time that helped define our present age. This spirited community Choir was born out of the Camden Road Community Play The Vanishing Elephant, now in its fifth year has grown in numbers and performs at regular intervals throughout the year at various community events and self promoted concerts. They will perform in the Gallery Nose in a book Night on Saturday 12th September as a period choir will, in what we hope will be the first of many of the next few years as we commemorate events around  the First World War.
