CAMDEN ROAD IN CAMERA

Picture
As part of Camden Road’s community Play The Vanishing Elephant in 2009 Claque Theatre and the Community Steering Committee (later to become CREATE) ran a project called Camden Road in Camera.  50 old photographs were mounted on walls, and in shop windows at sites where the photographs were taken some 90-100 years ago. As a contrast contemporary photographs have been taken from the same position. Things change, Bob’s DIY and Jarvis have gone since 2009 and yet only a few places are unrecognisable from 100 years ago. The shapes of buildings and shop fronts are still the same in most cases, in others details like decorative tiles remain. In1914 it was a vibrant place. It’s had its dips since then but, it’s much loved and we are determined to keep the spirit and spark of ‘community’ alive.
